Some people collect stamps. Some people may collect coins. I, however, seem to collect fabric. I adore fabric and playing with different, classic prints with vintage sewing patterns or new appliques to create a beautiful outcome. I often get asked where I get my fabrics. I'm so thankful to have found two wonderful local fabric and sewing stores that have wonderful selections and the best staff!

I,admittedly, am picky about the types of fabric I use for my appliques. Piques, lawns, and 100% cotton are definitely my favorites and these two stores have the best selections. There are the great ginghams, stripes, and bitty dots with a great selection of florals, windowpanes, and Liberty of London as well. Just as important as technique with applique, I think fabric is as well.

Even if you don't live in Birmingham, The Smocking Bird and The Sewing room both have great online stores that ship!! So, if you don't happen to live close to a store with similar fabrics they are happy to ship!
